  • Zajęcia odbywają się na Kampusie Ochota, na Wydziale Chemii UW, przy ulicy Pasteura 1 oraz na Wydziale Fizyki UW, przy ulicy Pasteura 5.

Energetyka i Chemia Jądrowa to kierunek studiów prowadzony przez Wydział Chemii Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego we współpracy z Wydziałem Fizyki UW. Studenci tego kierunku są formalnie studentami Wydziału Chemii, który zajmuje się rekrutacją i obsługą studiów od strony administracyjnej.

Absolwenci otrzymują dyplomy Wydziału Chemii z zaznaczeniem, że skończyli kierunek Energetyka i Chemia Jądrowa. Studia na tym kierunku przygotowują do zdania egzaminu państwowego na Inspektora Ochrony Radiologicznej bez konieczności przechodzenia dodatkowych szkoleń.

Program studiów I stopnia obejmuje następujące zagadnienia:

  • Matematyka, fizyka i chemia w zakresie podstawowym
  • Fizyka jądrowa, chemia jądrowa i radiochemia w zakresie rozszerzonym
  • Ochrona radiologiczna
  • Zastosowania technik jądrowych w medycynie i przemyśle
  • Wstęp do zagadnień energetyki jądrowej

Absolwent studiów I stopnia kierunku Energetyka i Chemia Jądrowa:

  • ma rzetelną wiedzę w zakresie podstaw wyższej matematyki, oraz głównych działów fizyki i chemii;
  • potrafi posługiwać się przyrządami pomiarowymi: mechanicznymi, elektrycznymi i elektronicznymi oraz chemicznym sprzętem laboratoryjnym;
  • zna zasady bezpiecznego posługiwania się substancjami chemicznymi, w tym także promieniotwórczymi i postępowania z odpadami;
  • zna i rozumie zasady ochrony radiologicznej i obowiązujące w Polsce przepisy prawne
  • umie korzystać z literatury naukowej, gromadzić i krytycznie analizować dane, przygotowywać i prezentować referaty;
  • podstawowe pojęcia i zasady z zakresu ochrony własności przemysłowej i prawa autorskiego oraz potrafi korzystać z zasobów informacji patentowej
  • potrafi przygotować i kontrolować w jednostce organizacyjnej procedury ochrony radiologicznej oraz prowadzić kontrolę dozymetryczną indywidualną oraz środowiska pracy
  • zna podstawy programowania i umie posługiwać się różnymi systemami komputerowymi;
  • jest przygotowany do pracy w laboratoriach chemicznych w tym także radiochemicznych, oraz fizycznych;

Absolwent ma możliwość podjęcia dalszego kształcenia na studiach II stopnia tego samego kierunku, lub na dowolnej specjalizacji kierunków chemia lub fizyka.

Absolwent po przystąpieniu do egzaminu państwowego może uzyskać uprawnienia inspektora ochrony radiologicznej i będzie posiadał kwalifikacje do pracy w instytutach oraz laboratoriach izotopowych, związanych z energetyką jądrową, chemią jądrową lub medycyną nuklearną.

Learning outcomes

The graduate has achieved the learning outcomes defined for bachelor’s degree program of the Energetics and Nuclear Chemistry study.
The graduate has the knowledge and skills that allow analysing issues in the field of physics, chemistry and sciences about radioactivity. The graduate can determine relationships between physical and chemical properties of the elements and chemical compounds and knows how to correlate position of the element in the periodic table with electronic structure of the atoms and the molecules. The graduate is familiar with standard methods used for determining the uncertainty of measurements adopted in the natural sciences. The graduate can assess this knowledge using professional literature and can accurately and coherently express himself orally and in writing using specialized terminology.

Knowledge:
- the graduate recognises significance of chemistry as a branch of exact and natural sciences and its contribution to the development of our civilization. The graduate knows basic concepts and laws of chemistry and is familiar with the symbolism, nomenclature and chemical notation. the graduate understands chemical equations;
- the graduate knows basic concepts related to higher mathematics and understands them to a degree necessary for the quantitative description, understanding and modelling of physical and chemical problems of medium complexity;
- the graduate is familiar with the basics of construction and operation of scientific apparatus and laboratory equipment used in physics and chemistry
- the graduate knows the theoretical basis of various molecular spectroscopy methods and techniques and is familiar with applications of various molecular spectroscopy techniques;
- the graduate knows the basic concepts of nuclear and particle physics and is familiar with nuclear reactions and radioactivity phenomena;
- the graduate knows the basic properties of nuclear radiation and its interaction with matter;
- the graduate is familiar with the radiological protection rules and is familiar with respective legal regulations in force in Poland;
- the graduate is familiar with application of nuclear techniques in medicine and industry; understands how a nuclear reactor and a nuclear power plant work. The graduate knows nuclear power development directions.

Skills:
- the graduate possesses the skills of planning and performing quantitative analyzes and knows how to formulate qualitative conclusions on this basis;
- the graduate has the ability to plan and perform simple experimental tests or observations and has the ability to analyze their results;
- the graduate has the ability to clearly present a specific problem in the field of physics, chemistry and radioactivity science along with the methods of solving it;
- the graduate possesses the skills of saving numerical algorithms as computer programs;
- the graduate has the ability to prepare and supervise radiological protection procedures in an organizational unit and has the ability to conduct dosimetric control of individual workers and their working environment;
- the graduate possesses the skill of assessing the risk associated with the use of ionizing radiation and radionuclides;

Social competences:
- the graduate is ready for a further training and has the ability to find himself required information in the literature, including foreign languages texts;
- the graduate has the ability to critically assess the advancement of one's knowledge (consults an expert in case of difficulties with solving the problem on its own). Is ready to independently undertake and initiate simple research activities;
- the graduate follows the rules of professional ethics and is accustomed to demand such behaviour from others (being convinced of the importance of behaving in a professional manner);
- the graduate is ready to determine the scope of his/her own knowledge and skills and is ready to improve professional and personal competences;
- the graduate is ready for fulfilling social and professional obligations, co-organizing activities for the benefit of the social environment;
- the graduate has the ability to think and act in an entrepreneurial manner
