The most important tasks of student interns during internships include:
1. Learning about the organization, tasks and principles of operation of the school, including how to maintain applicable documentation, regulations regarding ensuring safe and hygienic learning and working conditions;
2. Conducting French lessons under the supervision of an internship mentor.
3. Participating as observers in French language classes conducted by a mentor.
Thanks to the reliable and reflective implementation of these tasks, student interns will gain:
1. Knowledge of the organization and principles of school operation
2. Ability to carefully observe the lessons of the mentor;
3. Ability to conduct French lessons;
4. Knowledge about students and their environment;
5. Ability to cooperate with other people important in the child's life (class teacher, supporting teacher, etc.)
6. Knowledge about yourself as a future teacher
The main tasks of student interns during the internship include:
Becoming familiar with the organization, functions, and operational principles of the school, including how required documentation is maintained and the regulations ensuring safe and hygienic conditions for teaching and learning;
Teaching French lessons under the guidance of the mentor teacher;
Participating as observers in French language classes conducted by the mentor.
Through thorough and reflective completion of these tasks, student interns will acquire:
Knowledge of the organization and principles of school functioning;
The ability to closely observe the mentor’s lessons;
The ability to teach French lessons;
Knowledge about students and their learning environment;
The ability to cooperate with other key individuals in the child’s school life (e.g., homeroom teacher, support teacher, etc.);
Self-awareness as future teachers.
The scope of tasks and activities carried out by the student during the teaching internship includes:
Familiarizing oneself with the educational tasks implemented by the school;
Understanding the school’s functioning and the organization of its educational activities;
Learning about the types of documentation related to teaching activities maintained at the school;
Observing the teacher’s educational work, including their interactions with students, lesson planning and execution, teaching methods and strategies, instructional materials used, methods of assessment, and the assignment and evaluation of homework;
Analyzing — with support from the mentor teacher and, if needed, academic instructors responsible for psychological and pedagogical preparation — pedagogical situations and events observed or experienced during the internship;
Planning and conducting a series of lessons under the supervision of the mentor teacher;
Collaborating effectively with the mentor teacher and other staff members to broaden didactic knowledge and develop educational skills.
Internship documentation includes:
10 detailed lesson plans along with visual materials used during the lessons;
14 observation sheets with reflections for personal teaching practice;
An evaluation sheet for the student intern, completed by the mentor;
1 analysis sheet of a pedagogical situation/event.

E.2.W1 – the educational tasks carried out by schools or other institutions within the educational system;
E.2.W2 – the way schools or educational institutions operate and the organization of their teaching activities;
E.2.W3 – the types of documentation related to the educational activities conducted in schools or educational institutions.
In the area of skills, the graduate is able to:
E.2.U1 – draw conclusions from observing the teacher's work, their interactions with students, and their planning and implementation of educational activities; actively observe the teaching methods and forms of work used, the teaching aids applied, as well as the methods of student assessment and the assigning and checking of homework;
E.2.U2 – plan and conduct, under the supervision of the internship mentor, a series of lessons or classes;
E.2.U3 – analyze, with the support of the internship mentor and academic teachers in charge of psychological and pedagogical training, pedagogical situations and events observed or experienced during the internship.
In the area of social competences, the graduate is ready to:
E.2.K1 – effectively cooperate with the internship mentor and other teachers in order to broaden their didactic knowledge and develop educational skills.
Assessment criteria
Students are allowed to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for the preparation of lesson plans — for example, to verify the linguistic accuracy of instructions in French or to generate ideas for activities.
All other tasks and assignments must be completed independently by the student, without the use of AI tools.
Verification of Learning Outcomes
Assessment Methods:
The internship is assessed based on the documentation submitted to the university internship supervisor. The documentation includes:
1. Documents confirming the fulfilment of formal requirements, signed by the mentor teacher and stamped by the host institution.
These documents are not awarded points; however, submitting complete and properly filled-out formal documentation is a prerequisite for the internship to be passed. These documents include:
The school director’s consent for the student to undertake a French language teaching internship;
A declaration from the mentor teacher agreeing to supervise the student;
An internship logbook including: the dates of the internship, the number, dates, and topics of observed and taught lessons or educational activities, as well as all other actions related to the duties and tasks performed by the student, and the class level in which the activities took place;
Confirmation of the completion of the internship.
2. Documents confirming the fulfilment of substantive requirements and the achievement of learning outcomes:
The final grade consists of the following components:
a) Preparation of 10 lesson plans and other materials, along with notes from the observed lessons – all materials are reviewed by the internship supervisor. Two lesson plans are assessed (criteria for evaluating lesson plans: in accordance with the appendix in Resolution No. 63 of the Academic Council of the University of Warsaw (CKNJOIEE UW) of September 12, 2025) = 2 x 20 points (outcome E.2.U2.)
b) Preparation of 15 observation sheets from the lessons observed by the student, along with conclusions for their own teaching practice. Two observation sheets are assessed in Resolution No. 63 of the Academic Council of the University of Warsaw (CKNJOIEE UW) of September 12, 2025 = 2 x 15 points (outcome E.2.U1.)
c) A positive evaluation of the internship by a primary school mentor. Assessment: as per the attachment in the Resolution = 50 points (outcomes E.2.W1., E.2.W2., E.2.W3., E.2.U2., E.2.K1)
d) Pedagogical Situation/Event Analysis Sheet = 5 points (outcome E.2.U3.)

Completion of the required 30 internship hours grants 2.5 ECTS credits.

A student may receive an outstanding grade (5!) if they achieve the score required for a “very good” (5) and demonstrate exceptional initiative and outstanding engagement in the implementation of the internship.
Practical placement
The student completes a teaching internship - 30 hours - at Primary School No. 146 and PS n0 12in Warsaw.
