The most important tasks of student trainees during their internship include:
1. Learning about the organization, tasks and principles of functioning of the school, including the method of keeping school documentation and regulations regarding ensuring safe and hygienic learning and working conditions.
2. Conducting French lessons.
3. Participation as observers in French language classes conducted by the teacher-trainee and by other trainees carrying out their internships in parallel. Number of lessons observed and conducted: 30 hours.
After reliable and reflective implementation of these tasks, student trainees will gain:

Knowledge: the graduate knows and understands

Assessment criteria
For preparing lesson plans, the student may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools (language accuracy of instructions in French). All other work/tasks must be completed independently by the student, without the use of AI tools.
Methods of verifying learning outcomes. Assessment methods:
The internship is assessed based on the documentation of its completion, submitted to the university internship supervisor. The documentation includes:
Documents confirming that the student has met the formal requirements, signed by the mentor teacher and stamped by the host institution. These documents are not awarded points; however, submitting complete and fully completed formal documentation is a prerequisite for passing the internship.
• Consent of the school principal to accept the student for the French language teaching internship;
• Mentor’s declaration accepting the student for the internship;
• Internship logbook including: dates of the internship, as well as the number, dates, and topics of observed and conducted lessons or educational activities, all other tasks arising from the responsibilities carried out by the student, and the class symbols in which they took place;
• Confirmation of completion of the professional internship.
Documents confirming that the student has met the substantive requirements and achieved the learning outcomes. The grade is based on the following elements:
a) Preparation of lesson plans for all conducted lessons and other materials, along with notes from discussions of observed lessons — all materials are consulted with the internship supervisor.
Two lesson plans are assessed (assessment criteria:
Lesson objectives – 2 pts – Clearly defined, aligned with the curriculum and adapted to the students’ level.
Teaching content – 2 pts – Appropriately selected, suited to the class level and consistent with the lesson objectives.
Lesson organization – 2 pts – Logical structure with clear lesson stages; realistic plan suitable for the given conditions and time.
Teaching methods and forms of work – 2 pts – Varied, engaging, adapted to the objectives, content, and student group; appropriately selected and sufficiently diverse work forms (individual, group, team), supporting cooperation and engagement.
Teaching aids, including ICT – 2 pts – Varied, attractive, age-appropriate, supporting the achievement of objectives.
Language and style of the lesson plan – 2 pts – Correct language, didactic terminology, clear structure.
Total: 14 points

b) Preparation of observation sheets for lessons observed by the student, including conclusions for their own teaching practice. Two observation sheets are assessed (criteria:
– Consistency of content with observation categories – 2 pts
– Completeness and thoroughness – 2 pts
– Substantive accuracy of conclusions – 2 pts
– Coherence and clarity of structure – 2 pts
Total: 8 pts
2 × 8 points = 16 points (learning outcomes: S_W03, S_W06, S_U07)
c) Positive internship evaluation issued by the mentor from the primary school. The following are assessed:
Methodological skills – 2 pts;
Didactic skills – 2 pts;
Communication and language skills – 2 pts;
Psychological-pedagogical skills – 2 pts;
Cooperation with the mentor – 2 pts;
Punctuality and attendance – 2 pts;
Openness to feedback and reflection on own practice, progress in knowledge and skills – 3 pts
Total: 15 points (learning outcomes: S_U06, S_U10, S_U12, S_U20, S_U24, S_K04, S_K05, S_K09, S_K10)
2 × 15 points (two mentors) = 30 points
In total, up to 70 points can be obtained for the internship.
30 hours of mandatory internship correspond to 2.5 ECTS credits.
The following grading scale is used for the internship:
93–100% – very good (5)
87–92% – good plus (4+)
80–86% – good (4)
70–79% – satisfactory plus (3+)
60–69% – satisfactory (3); passing requires 42 points
below 60% – unsatisfactory (2)
A student may receive an excellent grade (5!) if they have achieved the result required for a very good grade (5) and have demonstrated exceptional and outstanding activity and engagement during the internship.
Practical placement
Pedagogical internships take place in primary schools with which UOKNJF UW cooperates.
Bibliography
