Geotechnical design 1300-OPGTC-GES
The classes are focused on the preparation of an elements of geotechnical project for selected structures in geotechnical category II and III in complex ground conditions.
As part of the exercise, the students are familiarized with archival geotechnical projects for three types of construction: facilities building, road and underground. The students prepare an elements of geotechnical project for a random structure (from the types mentioned above).

Prerequisites (description)
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student:
- has knowledge on soil-structure cooperation (P2A_W03),
- is able to prepare documentation in the form of a geotechnical project (P2A_U09) ,
- understands the need for broadening knowledge and development of skills in the field of construction and geotechnics (P2A_K01),
- understands the need for teamwork in the realization of advanced research projects (2PA_K02),
- is aware of conducting research and design works with regard to safety (P2A_K06).
Assessment criteria
Requirements for the classes:
- Preparation of a theoretical exercise based on knowledge gained during the lecture and literature indicated during the lecture,
- Practical knowledge and skills gained during the classes.
Methods of assessment:
- Continuous assessment (preparation for classes and activity during the classes)
- Assessment of design project (properly developed geotechnical project)
Maximum three absences are allowed during the semester, forth one causes failing the course.
Completing the course, including a second attempt for the design project, have to be done before the start of the exam session.
