Applied geology, full-time, second cycle degree (S2-GES)

The graduate achieves the following learning outcomes defined for the study programme:
- has depended knowledge in issues related to the processes of rock formation and differentiation in specific environments, knows the influence of these processes on the formation of the Earth, and the formation of mineral, fluid and gaseous resources,
- can analyse the results of analyses with regard to prospecting for resources, geomaterial and mineral resources application in science and industry,
- can use the latest numerical modelling in the interpretation of results obtained from the analyses and present their implication in scientific and commercial applications,
- can achieve the expected goals in a most simple and most effective way, using a wide range of geological research works,
- can individually plan and conduct fieldwork and laboratory analyses, and present the obtained results with regard to literature data,
- has social competencies indispensable for teamwork, in various roles,
- appreciates the need of continuous learning and further development of the achieved professional abilities, in various forms of life long learning
- knows how to make use of specialistic bibliography, present the results of individual research, and the research of other scientists,
- has qualifications to undertake professional tasks or scientific research during 3rd level studies.

The graduate achieves the following learning outcomes defined for the study programme:
- has deepened knowledge in geology, geochemistry, biogeochemistry, ecology, engineering geology, hydrogeology and environmental protection, as well as computer techniques and numerical methods applied in environmental protection,
- is aware of the multiple relationships between particular components of the natural environment and has knowledge on the processes taking place in the environment at various levels of the organization of nature,
- can analyze results of studies for determining the influence of humans on the natural environment,
- possesses deepened knowledge on hazards posed on the environment resulting from the exploitation of mineral and fuel resources by various mining techniques and in variable geological conditions,
- can model basic geochemical and biogeochemical processes in the geological environment with the application of numerical methods,
- can apply various indicators for environmental assessment,
- can individually plan and conduct geological research in a wide environmental range using modern research and analytical techniques, as well as elaborate and interpret their results,
- has social competencies indispensable for teamwork, in various roles,
- appreciates the need of continuous learning and further development of the achieved professional abilities,
- knows how to make use of specialistic bibliography, present the results of individual research, and the research of other scientists,
- has qualifications to undertake scientific research during 3rd level studies.

The graduate achieves the following learning outcomes defined for the study programme:
- can design and conduct field and laboratory research for hydrogeological or engineering-geological reports, such as records, expertises, mapping reports, etc.,
- can prepare these reports according to specific regulations and legal acts, using modern techniques, including computer databases and software,
- knows the rules of developing a conceptual model of a hydrogeological system, assigning boundary conditions for model calculations, model compensating and interpreting the calculation results,
- is capable of determining the susceptibility of the hydrogeological system to pollution and calculating the time of pollution migration (determined and potential) through the aeration zone and within the saturation zone,
- knows the hydrogeological conditions of Poland in reference to the regional sub-division, allowing for determining the types of curative waters, their origin and resources in Polish spa towns.
- has qualifications to undertake 3rd level studies.

The graduate achieves the following learning outcomes defined for the study programme:
- possesses appropriate background in the range of the disciplines of natural sciences, which are the basis for the understanding and application of processes shaping the engineering geological environment,
- possesses reliable knowledge and abilities in the range of engineering geology, geomechanics, geophysics and selected hydrodynamic and hydrogeological issues,
- possesses knowledge and abilities in the range of conducting documentary works, as well as scientific research with application of expert computer tools,
- can apply statistics for quantitative analyses and prediction (modelling) of engineering geological phenomena and processes,
- can plan and design research in a wide range of practical and theoretical issues realized in a variable geological environment,
- knows economical and legal issues in a range allowing for the optimal design and performance of documentary geological works,
- possesses knowledge and abilities indispensable for undertaking professional tasks enabling achieving professional qualifications in engineering geology,
- appreciates the need of continuous learning and further development of the achieved professional abilities, in various forms of life long learning,
- knows how to make use of specialistic Polish and foreign bibliography,

- has deepened knowledge in geology, tectonics, geological mapping, structural geology with elements of strata mechanics, as well as computer techniques and numerical methods applied in geological mapping and structural geology,
- can analyze the results of geophysical surveys in the context of deep-seated interpretation of the geological structure of selected areas,
- can model basic tectonic processes with application of numerical methods,
- can apply geophysical surveys in solving geological issues,
- can find applications for geomechanical analyses in the modelling of natural geological processes, particularly tectonic processes,
- can individually design and conduct fieldwork, including mapping and structural analyses, as well as elaborate and interpret their results,
- knows the conditions and processes leading to the formation and recognition of ore resources,
- has social competencies indispensable for teamwork, in various roles,
- appreciates the need of continuous learning and further development of the achieved professional abilities, in various forms of life long learning,
- knows how to make use of specialistic Polish and foreign bibliography, present the results of individual research, and the research of other scientists,
