Computer graphics and geological documentation 1300-OGKDKP-GES
The high expectations of the graphic documentation quality and necessity of visualization a large amount of data using graphical tools, causes the computer graphics has become indispensable tool both in theses creation as well as students future professional career. The aim of the 15 h laboratories is to familiarize students with basics of the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite (X4PL-X7PL) as well as creation and processing of vector and raster graphics. The aim of the course is also to familiarize students with a specific character of geological documentation in terms of computer graphics issues. The classes are the basis for development of skills in individual work.
The course will be carry as a three 5 h computer laboratories. CorelDRAW Graphics Suite (X4PL-X7PL) software is used during the classes. To pass student will need to prepare several simple drafts and make the final project. It will take 15 h of work (the access to the computer lab will be granted).

Learning outcomes
After the course student is capable to make a structure of a project, choose appropriate tools needed to accomplish project (raster/vector graphics). Student can use both vector graphics tools as well as edit raster images. Student is able to import and further edit data from geological software and most popular spreadsheets or databases. Prepare projects for printing.
Assessment criteria
The final grade is given on the basis of:
- evaluation of the students final report (70%),
- assessment of students self-reliance (20%),
- attendance (10%).
A maximum of one unjustified absence is permitted. Each participant is required to create his/her own project based on data provided during the classes. The project should be submitted for assessment within the agreed deadline. The student receives a failing grade in the case of not meeting the deadline. Retake of the classes is maintained by positive assessment of the project delivered after the deadline.
