Urban governance - urban masterplan in Sim City 4208-SimCity-OG
WORKSHOPS:
The aim of the course is to learn about, compare and conduct independent evaluation of urban governance models functioning in national, European and global practice. The course focuses on governing the city as a multi-dimensional, complex phenomenon that requires knowledge from different fields, including economics, sociology, engineering, geography, political science, and governance. The course, based on a comparative approach, allows you to get to know the practical aspects of the determinants of urban development, creation and identification of the vision of city development, the possible models and instruments of city management. A way to use all the skills learned in the classroom is the simulation of urban governance with Sim City game. It allows you to guide the development of the city from its foundation to attain the status of a metropolis. The simulation requires the ability to manage the city budget and design spatial planning, as well as direct management of many urban areas of the economy, such as road infrastructure, water supply system, public services, school network or health care. The realities of the game largely correspond to real competence and tasks of local government in Poland.
