Men’s Handball 4023-S-PIŁR2
The handball section is very active and sociable. The team is a unique blend of experience (the oldest players are 30 or more and have their own families) and youth (the youngest are first or second year students). Currently, we have several players with a record in national junior teams and first league teams, which shows the quality of our team.
Our team competes in a number of competitions, including:
– third league (which we have won for several years in a row);
– Polish Cup (in the last season we were the runner-up for the first time, losing to the first league club Zagłębie Lubin);
– University Championships of Poland (we have won a number of medals in this event);
– Championships of Polish University Leagues;
– other.
Everybody is welcome to join.
Please bring your sports outfit for a try-out.
Students will develop:
1. Motor skills: speed, strength, jumping skill, endurance, flexibility, co-ordination;
2. Technical and tactical skills:
– passes, reception, dribbling,
– jump, step-over and running shots,
– screens,
– individual defence,
– team defence: 6:0, 5:1, 5+1,
– co-operation between defendants,
– play in various positions (new tactical solutions),
– goalkeeper’s play,
– co-operation between the goalkeeper and outfield players,
– positional attack against various defensive formations: 6:0, 5:1, 5+1 or combined,
– fast attack (first wave and second wave),
– co-operation between attackers, small games: 2:2, 3:3, 4:4,
– tactical solutions in powerplay situations,
– team plays (perfection);
– free throw plays;
– penalty throws.

Learning outcomes
Students:
- will acquire the general knowledge of the human body and its functioning;
- will be able to exercise safely;
- will learn how to work in a team;
- will understand the need to stay fit in order to remain healthy;
- will be able to use sports equipment correctly;
- will develop special motor skills under the guidance of the Physical Education and Sports Centre’s staff.
Assessment criteria
The PE credit is earned for regular attendance and active participation in training sessions as well as competitions and tournaments.
