Climbing lessons 4023-O-WSP1
Each class begins with a general and special warm-up.
Students will:
– get acquainted with the basic climbing equipment (rope, harness, carabiners, belay devices, quickdraws) and how to use it
– learn top roping and lead climbing, clipping techniques and a method of locking off a belay device
– learn to use footholds and handholds, frontal and twisted position techniques (three points of contact, mantling, sidecling, two points of contact – flagging, anchoring) and static and dynamic movements, as well as reaching rest positions
– learn to climb different rock formations (slabs, corners, cracks, overhangs, roofs)
– acquire general knowledge about climbing rules and further opportunities for training and perfection of climbing skills
– optionally, students can also get acquainted with controlled descent on a rope (rappel).

Learning outcomes
Students:
- will acquire the general knowledge of the human body and its functioning;
- will be able to exercise safely;
- will learn how to work in a team;
- will understand the need to stay fit in order to remain healthy;
- will be able to use sports equipment correctly;
- will develop special motor skills under the guidance of the Physical Education and Sports Centre’s staff.
Assessment criteria
The basis for passing the course is systematic and active participation in the classes.
