Knowledge
- The student knows the scientific categories: political system, ideology, dictatorship, authoritarianism, democracy and the connections of these categories with the phenomenon of everyday life, national identity and history of Central and Eastern Europe [K_W03, K_W08, K_W11, K_W12]
- The student knows the basic terminology in the field of historiography, sociology, ethnology and political and social anthropology and has ordered, in-depth general knowledge including theories and methodology of the humanities [K_W01, K_ 03, K_W04]
Skills
- The student has his own view on the formation and functioning in Eastern Europe of state and political systems after the Soviet Union, knows the contexts and mechanisms of the emergence of undemocratic power systems in Eastern Europe, can define it using the terminology in the field of political and social anthropology, sociology of power, political science, historiography et al. related fields [K_U01, K_U03, K_U06, K_U07, K_U08]
- Student is able to justify his own opinion (positive or critical) regarding today's political and social situations in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine [K_U01, K_U03, K_U06, K_U08]

Assessment criteria
The course includes bi-weekly 4-hour classes. lecture As part of the classes:
-Lectures documenting material (photographs, presentations and videos) and illustrating the issues discussed.
- Some lectures are conducted on the basis of discussions on given literature.
