Kazakh language and culture II 3600-SJW-JKKII-OG
On the basis of text and audiovisual materials, students will learn oral and written communication, as well as vocabulary and grammar basics. Students will be able to understand the basic phrases and expressions most commonly used by users of the language (information about themselves, family, shopping, profession, places...). In a simple form they will be able to tell, write, ask questions and make requests about personal experiences, circumstances, etc, in a simple form. They will also be able to communicate in everyday situations using simple phrases. During the seminar the following issues will be discussed:
1. Repetition of grammar A1
2. Basic phrases in Kazakh
3. Islam in Kazakhstan
4. Kazakh folk, palace, mystical and modern literature.
5. Language picture of the world of the Polish and Kazakh (based on phraseological units)
6. History of the Kazakh cinema and theater.
7. Historical Polish-Kazakh relations.
8. Sport and national games
9. Famous figures from the history of Kazakhstan
10. Examples of Kazakh literary works translated into Polish.
11. Customs and Kazakh legends.
12. Basic knowledge about Kazakh society: political system, state institutions, education system.
13. Multiculturalism and multiethnicity.
14. Culture of everyday life.
15. Common idioms of the Kazakh and Polish language

Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, participants will be able to understand basic phrases at A2 level, be able to read Kazakh texts and understand them with the help of dictionaries. They will be able to formulate simple statements in oral and written form. They will know Kazakh culture and language.
Assessment criteria
Evaluation methods and criteria are as follows:

The abstract associated with the selected aspect of culture of the Kazakh (60%)
The lack of injustice in grade 5 means the loss of 20% of the assessment. Activity is estimated based on the interest students with the subject and participate in the discussions. The report should last 20 minutes.
