Panorama of the French Literature of the 17th Century 3304-1DZ1W-KL-002-OG
Class is designed to present main issues appearing in French literature of 17th century. Classes include analysis of selected texts or their fragments (poems, plays by Corneille, Moliere and Racine, novels by Mme de Lafayette and philosophic prose) and are expected to present possibly broadest overview of 17th century French literature. At the basic level, the class is designed to prepare students to work, on standalone basis, with 17th century text, understanding the text and interpret it in the context of the era.

Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course the student will:
- knows and understands: the chronology of the epoch, the changes occurring in the 17th century French literature and the methodology of literary studies, knows the discussed concepts of literary theory and the discussed texts, which he analyzes in the broad context of the humanities (K_W01, K_W04, K_W05, K_W09, K_W10, K_W12)
- They will be able to: relate various literary phenomena, make parallels between authors and texts, analyse literary texts referring to known literary approaches, apply the acquired knowledge in their professional activity (K_U05, K_U06, K_U12)
- Is ready to take care of the French cultural heritage and observe basic rules of professional ethics, as well as rules concerning protection of intellectual property and copyright (K_K04, K_K06)
Assessment criteria
2 short tests, written essey, oral exam
