Photography in France 3304-1DPXW-KHK-04-OG
The appearance of the invention of photography in France and England at the beginning of the 19th century was an important moment in the history of perceiving reality and understanding a work of art (not only plastic). The classes will be devoted to selected issues concerning the influence of the new medium on shaping the imagination of recipients (in a collective and individual plan), on social and political life (scientific, medical, administrative, entertainment, etc.), on fine arts (influence on painting and searching for the specificity of the new arts) and literature.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student:
1. has systematic knowledge of the basic processes taking place in the area of culture;
2. has an elementary knowledge of the methodology of research on culture;
3. has knowledge of French culture;
4. knows and understands the basic concepts and principles of intellectual property and copyright protection;
5. can use various sources and methods, traditional and modern, to search, analyze, evaluate, select and use the information necessary to participate in classes;
6. has basic research skills, including the analysis of research problems, formulation of hypotheses, selection of research methods, development and presentation of results to the extent necessary to participate in discussions during classes and to prepare their own works in the field of Romance philology;
7. can independently acquire knowledge and develop research skills, following the instructions of the teacher / tutor;
8. has the ability to prepare oral presentations in French and Polish, presenting detailed issues, using various sources and basic theoretical approaches;
9. is able to properly define the priorities for the implementation of the tasks set by himself and others;
10. is interested in contemporary processes and phenomena occurring in the cultural life of Europe.
Assessment criteria
Classes end with a grade. The following elements will be taken into account in the grading process:
- active attendance at classes (permissible 3 absences, participation in the discussion);
- evaluation of the lecture and presentation prepared on the subject agreed with the lecturer;
- written test.
The form and criteria for passing the course may change depending on the current epidemic threat situation. Equivalent credit conditions will be established in accordance with the guidelines in force at the University of Warsaw, in consultation with the participants of the classes.
