Polish language course - upper intermediate level B2 3004-POLOB2
A course for students who know Polish at the intermediate level. Language competences in the following skills will be developed: listening comprehension, grammar correctness, understanding written texts, writing and speaking.
Curriculum of the course meets the requirements of the State Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign Language.
Grammar (selected issues from the following):
1. Declension of irregular nouns (e.g. imię, przyjaciel, pieniądz, ksiądz).
2. Plural masculine-personal forms of nouns and adjectives.
3. Aspect of verbs in the past tense and future tense.
4. The creation and use of the participles.
5. Declension and syntax of cardinal numbers.
6. Conditional mood.
7. Conditional sentences.
8. Passive voice.
9. Place, time, cause and purpose clauses.
10. Transforming complex sentences into simple sentences.
Vocabulary:
1. Traveling.
2. Language.
3. Inventions and discoveries.
4. Society.
5. Family.
6. Personality.
7. Holidays and traditions.
8. Work.
9. Current social and political issues.
Each topic can be discussed during more than one class.
Genres of writing assignments: essay, narrative, description.
The use of Artificial Intelligence tools, as well as online translators, is possible only when consulted with the lecturer. Without the teacher's approval, it is forbidden to utilize such tools.
In written assignments, it is necessary to point out all the fragments taken from other authors' works, e.g. from articles available online. Plagiarism is a serious academic offense.

Learning outcomes
After attending the course, students will know grammar structures and vocabulary required at the B2 level that will enable them to understand any texts and audios on generic, non-specialized topics, as well as express themselves orally and in writing on such topics.

STATIONARY COURSE
Active attendance (two unexcused absences per semester allowed) – 20%
Homework and other assignments – 20%
Midterm tests / presentations – 20%
Final test – 40%
ONLINE COURSE
Active attendance at classes (two unexcused absences per semester allowed) – 30%
Homework and other assignments – 30%
Midterm tests / presentations – 20%
Final test – 20%
To obtain ECTS credits, the student must show achievement in each of the above categories and pass a final test.
