Polish language course - intermediate level B1 3004-POLOB1
The course is dedicated to those who have previously completed courses at the A1 and A2 levels. The course program includes expanding vocabulary and improving communication skills, deepening knowledge of grammar, and learning the basics of spelling and stylistics. The program also includes learning how to write simple texts and functional writings.
Vocabulary:
- description of the person: appearance, marital status, interests,
- character (advantages, disadvantages),
- cinema, movie, review
- sports,
- work,
- origin, family,
- self-presentation,
- traveling,
- packing luggage,
- airport,
- tourist attractions of Poland,
- random events,
- interpersonal relations.
Grammar:
- nominative and accusative plural,
- the pronoun swój,
- imperative mode
- conditional mode,
- improper verbs,
- repetition of the forms and functions of the locative,
- vocative,
- static and dynamic prepositions,
- verbs of motion,
- dative,
- syntax of numerals.
Writing assignments:
- description of a person,
- review of a film / play,
- story,
- report,
- e-mails and private letters.
The use of Artificial Intelligence tools, as well as online translators, is possible only when consulted with the lecturer. Without the teacher's approval, it is forbidden to utilize such tools.
In written assignments, it is necessary to point out all the fragments taken from other authors' works, e.g. from articles available online. Plagiarism is a serious academic offense.

Learning outcomes
After attending the course, students will know grammar structures and vocabulary required at the B1 level that will enable them to understand any texts and audios on generic, non-specialized topics, as well as express themselves orally and in writing on such topics.
Assessment criteria
- Final test at the end of the course – 40%
- Midterm tests / presentations – 20%
- Home assignments – 20%
- Active attendance at classes – 20%
To obtain a course credit at the end of the semester, a student must show achievements in each of the above categories and pass the final exam (a student who receives 0% in one category, will not receive a pass).
