Language workshops – listening of authentic materials related to economy, trade and politics to prepare students to be more independent when working with texts alone. Current events in the world are starting point to extended discussions.
Parliamentary election, democracy in Poland and in Europe; Personal image on the internet; Copyright; Environment protection in political and business contexts; Differences between Polish and Chinese commercials; Work; Technology; Commenting on current events in the world.

Learning outcomes
Student understands key messages and meanings of general, specific and abstract topics of writing and speaking language, including texts with complex structure.
Student is prepared to work alone with complex texts which includes vocabulary related to economy and international relations.
Assessment criteria
- Work alone to prepare the class using materials from the teacher – 40%
- Attendance (only two unjustified absences from classes possible) – 20%
- Active participation in the discussions – 40 %
To obtain a course credit at the end of the semester, a student must show achievements in each of the above categories and pass the final test. A student who receives 0% in one category, will not receive a pass.
