The history of the Zaporozhian Cossacks and the Cossak state against the background of 16th- 18th century Ukraine 2900-MK1-HKZ-OG
The subject of the lecture is the history of the Cossacks and the Cossack state from their appearance in Ukraine until the liquidation of the Cossack Hetmanate by Russia in the 18th century. These issues will be discussed against the background of the history of the Ukrainian lands before and after the Union of Lublin.
The greatest emphasis will be placed on the evolution of the Cossacks and their role in the history of Ukraine and the Commonwealth. The origins of this community and the processes which caused the transformation of this military group into a representative of the Orthodox population of Ukrainian lands. Great emphasis will also be placed on the events in Ukrainian history that influenced this evolution.
The second part of the lecture will be devoted to the history of the Cossack state created as a result of the uprising of B. Khmelnits'kiy, taking into account the socio-economic processes taking place in this state.
