Innovations, discoveries and inventions that changed the world 2700-L-FAK-Z-IOW-OG
The problematic outline of the history of innovation in the broad sense of the term and the cross-sectional chronological perspective is intended to explain their fundamental significance for the history of mankind. This outline draws attention also to the lasting impact of achievements from the sometimes distant past on the reality that surrounds us. The discussed topics provoke reflection on the mechanisms of modernization processes, on the role of science and technology in economic, social and political life. They show the correlation of the development of civilizations in different parts of the world, the mobility of ideas and the gradual accumulation of knowledge on the one hand, and on the other hand they point to the causes and effects of the long-term domination of Europe and the "Europeanization" of the history of civilization. The discussions and controversies of historians and philosophers of civilization will be taken into account. A separate topic of the lecture will be to signal the contribution of Poles to the world heritage of science and technology.
