– The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the 18th century – society, politics, culture;
– changes in European education in the 18th century (i.a. France, England, Prussia);
– schools in the Commonwealth in the first half of the 18th century – (i.a. Jesuit and Piarist colleges, protestant grammar schools) – curriculum, methods, school theatre;
– a new type of school – Collegium Nobilium; Commission of National Education – a new program and methods;
– parochial schools;
– increased interest in experimental science
- new forms of education - social gatherings, demonstrations of experiments
-the role of the press and the theatre in stimulating interest in science

Knowledge:
– student knows the fundamental principles and the results of changes in education in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the 18th century;
– student knows the major centres and institutions involved in education in the Commonwealth in the 18th century.
Skills:
– student can explain the processes taking place in education in the Commonwealth in the 16th to 18th centuries.
Attitudes:
–student understands the diversity of the 18th century education;
– student understands the mechanisms involved in education in the 18th century.
