Contemporary challenges of cultural tourism 1900-CCHT-OG
This course explores the modern-day challenges and opportunities within the realm of cultural tourism. It covers the impacts of globalization, tech-nological advancements, sustainability concerns, and cultural preserva-tion. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of how cultural tourism shapes and is shaped by socio-economic and environmental fac-tors, as well as strategies for sustainable and culturally respectful tourism development.
Course Objectives:
•To provide students with an in-depth understanding of the current is-sues and trends affecting cultural tourism worldwide.
•To analyze the impact of cultural tourism on local communities and heritage sites.
•To equip students with the knowledge needed to propose solutions for sstainable and ethical tourism practices.
•To develop students’ ability to critically assess the implications of cul-tural tourism on global and local cultures.

In terms of knowledge:
- Understand the complexity of cultural tourism in the contemporary world, including socio-cultural, economic and environmental dimensions.
- To identify the impact of globalisation on cultural tourism and its influence on tourist behaviour and local cultural practices.
- To gain knowledge of policies and strategies related to sustainable tourism and heritage conservation.
In terms of skills:
- To be able to analyse and evaluate different aspects affecting cultural tourism in order to identify challenges and opportunities.
- Ability to construct solutions to enhance sustainability in the context of cultural tourism
- Ability to communicate effectively on cultural tourism issues, using appropriate academic and professional language.
In terms of social competence:
- To work effectively in a group, respecting different perspectives and cultural backgrounds.
- Identification and understanding of personal responsibility as a cultural tourism participant, both as a professional and as a traveller.
Assessment criteria
Final credit includes:
- a written assessment at the end of the seminar in the form of an open test
- realization of partial projects of an applied character
