There are following tasks of the lecture:
- presentation of different theories about enzymes catalytic power and their physical background
- description, based on examples, the relationship between enzyme catalytic properties and three-dimensional structure of enzymes protein
- description of a different enzyme kinetic in relation to complexity of enzyme structure and types of chemical reaction
- presentation of enzymes classes and different catalytic strategies e.g., evolution of enzyme complexes
- discussion on various types of enzyme specificity and contribution of amino-acid residues and cofactors to enzyme catalysis
- presentation of different types of bioenergetics systems, among others photosynthetic and mitochondrium chain
- demonstration of examples of enzyme utilization for biotechnology
- introduction to laboratory practice in field of enzymes researches

Learning outcomes
After receiving a credit for a course in enzymology the student is capable of:
-understand the theories of enzyme catalytic power
-understand the relationship between 3D enzyme structure and catalytic and kinetic properties
-understand the diversity of catalytic strategies
- possess the knowledge about enzymes’ application in recent biotechnology
The main goal of a lecture is prepared students for critical analysis of scientific lecture concerning enzymes research
Assessment criteria
The lecture credit exam is implemented in the form of the development of an experimental publication on enzymology. The student must analyze the content of the publication using the knowledge gained during the lecture. The English-language publication is assigned at random from a pool prepared by the lecturer.
