Chemistry experiments in teaching 1200-2DOCHEM3P
The aim of the course is to educate female and male students the skills of planning, preparation and practical and safe performance of chemical experiments used in the implementation of the chemistry curriculum in primary and secondary schools. The skill of correct description of the observed phenomena, formulating conclusions and creating notes will be practiced. For multifunctional hydrocarbon derivatives, students will perform experiments on proteins and carbohydrates. They will become acquainted and perform experiments taking into account redox reactions as well as exercises in electrochemistry, kinetics and chemical equilibrium. In the descriptions of the experiments performed, the students will take into account the safety rules of work with the reagents used.
An integral part of the classes will be the preparation and conducting of chemical demonstrations for students at various levels of education.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
The student knows:
- place of the chemistry subject, its aims and teaching content in terms of primary and secondary school, with particular emphasis on the required experience;
- rules of safe work in a chemical laboratory.
Skills:
A student is able to:
- safely carry out the experiments envisaged by the programs at the primary and secondary education levels.
- manage the work of students in the school's chemical laboratory.
- organize a school chemical laboratory in accordance with the requirements of Sanepid.
- plan lessons using a chemical experiment.
- assist students in planning their research work, especially in the case of the scientific method and the method of educational projects.
- encourage students to undertake research trials.
Competencies.
Student / student:
- adjusts the way of communication to the development level of students.
- develops inquisitiveness and stimulates independent work of students.
- emphasizes the importance of precision of operation during experimental work.
- aims to develop students' curiosity, cognitive activity and independence as well as logical and critical thinking.
Assessment criteria
Credit with a grade, which consists of:
- quality and timely delivery of reports;
- passing the test on the structure and properties of biologically active compounds and physical chemistry, in accordance with the detailed requirements contained in the core curriculum for secondary schools;
- preparing and conducting demonstrations of experiences on the Children's Day at LDCh.
During the classes, an attendance register will be kept. There are two excused absences per semester.
Passing in the retake period can be obtained after passing the test, reports on laboratory exercises and preparation and conducting demonstrations of experiments.
Practical placement
Undergoing teaching practice in primary and secondary schools is necessary to obtain pedagogical qualifications.
