City in motion – space, society, mobility 4208-Mwr-psm-OG
Climate and socio-economic challenges, new development priorities and technological advances are just some of the elements shaping contemporary mobility and logistics.
The workshop takes a closer look at the preparation process and the instruments for implementing an integrated and sustainable transport policy. It includes a course of practical knowledge, based on concrete examples from different countries and regions as well as transport markets, including lessons on the characteristics of individual transport systems and the instruments that shape passenger and freight markets.
The 5 thematic blocks include: road transport, rail, aviation, walking and cycling, and logistics and intermodal transport.

Learning outcomes
KNOWLEDGE: The course provides an understanding of the functional conditions and advantages of different modes of transport, basic transport policy paradigms and examples of regulations shaping transport markets at international, national and regional levels. The background to the concepts and phenomena discussed are concrete examples based on observations and practical experiences discussed in class.
SKILLS: The course provides the basis for an independent analysis and configuration of various transport policy instruments, as well as an assessment of potentials and barriers to their implementation. At the same time, it teaches openness to different organisational and business models. The issues discussed are analysed first and foremost in terms of their usefulness and effectiveness of application.
SOCIAL COMPETENCES
Workshop elements teach dialogue with the instructor and interaction between students. Meetings with practitioners and study visits provide an opportunity to learn about working in different professions and at different levels of the transport system.
Assessment criteria
Test score (pass mark 45%) or alternatively attendance and class activity
