Practical French 4100-2SNJFO
The aim of the course is to gradually develop students’ language competence in French – from the beginner level (A0) to the level of independent language use (B2), in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The classes integrate the development of all language skills: reading and listening comprehension, speaking, writing, interaction, as well as linguistic and cultural mediation. Throughout the course, students improve their linguistic accuracy at various levels – grammatical, lexical, phonetic, and stylistic – and develop the skills necessary for effective communication in a variety of everyday, academic, and professional situations. The course also includes working with authentic materials, developing intercultural competence, strengthening learner autonomy, and preparing for examinations confirming the achievement of levels A2, B1, and B2.
In the second semester, the classes aim to further develop students’ language competence in French – from level A1 to A2, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). As they continue learning French, students deepen their knowledge of grammatical and lexical structures and practice all language skills: reading and listening comprehension, speaking, writing, and interaction. The classes focus on developing effective communication in typical everyday, academic, and professional situations, taking into account cultural and educational contexts and fostering learner autonomy.
During the course, students develop the skills necessary to: expand their lexical and grammatical range to function confidently in familiar social and educational contexts (e.g. family life, travel, shopping, student obligations); improve comprehension of simple written and narrative texts and audio recordings of slightly higher complexity (e.g. reports, announcements, instructions, dialogues); produce coherent and comprehensible written texts (e.g. event description, letter, email) and spoken utterances (e.g. short presentation, storytelling); and engage in interactive communication in situations requiring information exchange, expression of opinions, and appropriate responses to interlocutors’ needs. Additionally, the classes prepare students for the final test assessing all language skills according to the requirements of level A2.
