The goal of the seminar is to develop students’ linguistic and cultural competences through authentic French-language materials such as reports, press articles, literary texts, film excerpts, and broadcasts. Classes aim to improve speaking, reading, and listening comprehension, as well as deepen knowledge of contemporary culture and social life in France and beyond.
During the course, students will explore selected topics concerning the functioning of the French language in diverse communicative contexts and their socio-cultural determinants. Working with original materials will help students better understand the relationship between language and culture and the application of cultural norms in communication.
Classes will be interactive: students will prepare their own presentations and statements, participate in discussions, and work in subgroups. The seminar will enable them to develop skills in analyzing and interpreting contemporary cultural phenomena in France and in formulating comments and opinions in French at the B2 level.
The course promotes an attitude of openness and intercultural sensitivity. Students will be encouraged to critically reflect on cultural and communicative differences and to consciously use cultural context in communication.
