Leisure Fencing 4023-Z-SZER1
Why fencing?
It can be practised at any age. Fitness, endurance or strength are not the most important.
At present, this is the safest martial art (there is a low injury rate owing to lack of body contact). Fencing is practised by men and women, young and old, all over the world. It has been taught in elite schools and universities in Europe and the US for decades.
Fencing is a perfect relaxation for your body and mind (a great way to relieve stress). Classes can improve your fitness and figure. You do not need to know anything or have any sports skills. Find out for yourself how easy and exciting it can be.
In our group you will meet wonderful people and make new friends. Come and join our sports community!
By taking the course you will earn a credit for one PE semester, provided that you attend at least 30 hours of classes.
Bouts (30–40 minutes)
They are the purpose and core of fencing training. In bouts, students can use in practice the fighting and footwork techniques they have trained. They need to adjust their actions to their mental and physical abilities, developing their own tactics and style of fighting. Hits are signalled by electronic equipment. Students have a chance to correct the speed and pace of their own actions and react to their opponent’s actions, while learning to control their emotions. Fencing rituals aim at preventing excessive aggression and unfair actions. Chivalrous behaviour is promoted by co-educational training.
In a test tournament organised once in a semester, students can compare their skills with others. Owing to score adjustment, men and women can compete in the same competition. Excessive stress among students during competition is reduced by introducing some humorous elements.
