Women’s volleyball 4023-S-PIŁS1
The women’s volleyball section is open for female daily, evening, extramural, postgraduate or doctoral students as well as university staff. The second group is for beginner players (starting their serious experience with volleyball), while the first group is for advanced players (with a record in other Polish volleyball clubs).
The students from the volleyball section compete for the University of Warsaw in the University Championships of Warsaw, Poland and Europe in both indoor and beach volleyball.
The volleyball season lasts from September to June or even July (for beach volleyball) for the first team and from October to June for the second team. Both teams are trained by the same coach according to the same schedule:
– Indoor pre-season period, including recruitment and selection of new players (development of general fitness and stamina, training of agility, speed, strength, jumping skills, technical and tactical skills, mental and intellectual skills as well as study of theory);
– Indoor in-season period (maintenance of high physical fitness, teamwork, player specialisation, team and individual tactics);
– For the first team only: indoor to beach transition period and beach in-season (transition to different rules of the game as well as different tactics, techniques and surface);
– Post-season period: other games involving physical movement.
Training intensity:
– First team: 2 hrs. three times a week, September to June/July + matches;
– Second team: 2 hrs. twice a week + matches.

Learning outcomes
Students:
- will acquire the general knowledge of the human body and its functioning;
- will be able to exercise safely;
- will learn how to work in a team;
- will understand the need to stay fit in order to remain healthy;
- will be able to use sports equipment correctly;
- will develop special motor skills under the guidance of the Physical Education and Sports Centre’s staff.
Assessment criteria
The PE credit is earned for regular attendance and active participation in training sessions as well as competitions and tournaments.
