Philosophy of the contemporary Christian Culture. 3620-1-FWKC-OG
1. Explanation of basic theological concepts for the use of this lecture: philosophy of religion, religious studies, cultural studies, theology (1 hour).
2. The natural theology and the revealed theology. The sources of revelation in Christianity (2 hours).
3. Dispute over the understanding of Tradition/ Tradition within Christianity (2 hours).
4. Christianity as a cultural phenomenon: Catholicism, the Orthodox Church, Protestantism (2 hours).
5. Christian terminology and attempts at bringing it up to date (2 hours).
6. Christian anthropology in the catholic, protestant and orthodox versions (2 hours).
7. Fundamental christology and dogmatic christology (2 hours).
8. Contemporary problems connected to the teachings of the Holy Trinity (triadology) (1 hour).
9. The Marian cult and the cult of other saints and their influence on the culture of different nations (1 hour).
10. Naturalistic and institutional understanding of the Church (1 hour).
11. The Church and the state. The Church and the nation (2 hours).
12. The question of the highest authority within Christianity: the pope or the council? (2 hours).
13. The Church as a „service shop” - the problem of commercialization of the sacraments (2 hours).
14. Christian ethics and contemporary culture (2 hours).
15. Attempts at redefining matrimony and the reaction of Christianity to this (1 hour).
16. Heaven and hell as well as „circumhellish” states: the purgatory, the limbus puerorum, the limbus Patrum (2 hours).
17. The phenomenon of millenarianism (1 hour).
18. Christian fundamentalism and liberalism (2 hours).
