Modern problems of the Muslim world presented in films – religion, politics, woman, feminism 3600-ZIE-WPSIF-OG
During the course students will be introduced with the help of films (documentary and feature) to selected problems of the Muslim world, such as
- Islam as a religion – sacred texts in Islam and their interpretation, selected religious practices
- selected political issues – Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Arab spring, Western military interventions
- selected gender issues – hijab, marriage, divorce, female religious leadership
- selected issues of Islam in Europe
- the image of Islam and Muslims in Europe (esp. Poland)

Learning outcomes
A student should master the general knowledge about the Muslim world, Islam and should be able to characterize general selected religious, political and gender issues in the Muslim world.
Knowledge
- has a systematic knowledge about selected modern events in the Muslim world K_W01
- has a deepened knowledge about social structures and relations and about socio-cultural behavior characteristic for selected regions of the Muslim world, incl. gender issues, in a range allowing professional verbal social and intercultural communication K_W10
- has a basic knowledge about the importance of of Islam and about the Muslim world diversity K_W16

- is able to use basic terms concerning the religion of Islam K_U03
