Inner Asian Civilisations-Social and cultural problems of Tibet 3600-MT-CASZSKT-OG
The course aims to familiarize students with fundamental aspects of the culture, literature, history, religion, and art of the peoples of Central Asia, with a particular emphasis on Mongolia and Tibet. Knowledge is imparted through an interdisciplinary approach, emphasizing the interrelationships between the natural environment, history, socio-cultural transformations, and the most important achievements of the Mongols and Tibetans, and the broader region of Central Asian peoples. The course is delivered as a five-semester module, and students achieve all learning outcomes by completing the entire module. The discussion format supports practical learning through collaborative text analysis and workshop elements; the course combines lectures with presentations, discussions, and individual student work. Students, as part of extensive independent work, conducted outside of class and in preparation for exams, independently and systematically analyze the provided teaching materials, develop identified topics, expand their knowledge with additional sources, and consolidate lecture content related to the topics of the chosen module. These activities include both critical reading of texts and independent organisation, interpretation and integration of acquired knowledge, which is an important element in achieving the learning outcomes set for the subject.
