Workshop-Islam and human rights 3600-KM-IPC-OG
The course aims to present the relation between Islam and the canon of human rights. Participants will analyse the rules of Islam that guarantee basic human rights
protection, as well as regulations regarding the freedom of speech, the freedom of beliefs and other areas of potential violations of human rights. The course will focus
particularly on the well-known cases of accusations of apostasy and blasphemy, that occurred in recent decades in various parts of Africa, Asia, and Europe. Special attention will also be paid to Islam’s potential to support human rights in various areas. During the second day of the course, students will participate in a debate on the compatibility and conflict between Islamic rules and human rights.

Having completed the course student:
- has knowledge of particular problems pertaining to human rights in Islam in a comparative perspective
