Hebrew Language in practice (from the Bible to modern Hebrew Language) 3600-HE-JHP-OG
The lecture touches upon the basics of the history of the Hebrew language and its culture, tradition and customs, as well as their impact on global culture. During the lecture students learn about Oral and Written Torah (Hebrew Bible and Mishnah) and some other important Hebrew works and manuscripts. The main aim of the course is to teach the students the basic knowledge about the history of the Hebrew language and its culture (with a special chapter: Hebrew in Poland). The last stage is learning the basics of the modern Hebrew language.
The Course in Biblical Hebrew covers 1 semester of day studies. The main aim of the course is to teach the students the basics of Biblical Hebrew and prepare them for reading Biblical texts with comprehension and using the dictionary. The course opens with a review of consonants and vowels, syllable structure, writing and pronunciation, which is followed by further description of the grammatical rules of morphology and syntax, which facilitates proper reading of Biblical texts and using a dictionary. The second semester is the submission of further stages of the Hebrew language, distinguishing between linguistic specificity.
