Sociology of the Artistic Occupations 3502-567-OG
The artistic careers are percieved as a unique and individual professional path, followed by those individuals with a rare talent (someone called them "genius"), who in absolutely original and unable for copying manner acheived their trajectory. This vision in criticized by the majority of the sociologists, who after the years of research and very often, several years of participation in the activity of the artistic milieus, pointed up the highly organized society of collaborators, in which the works (the results of artistic activity) which is percieved as the individual production, is is fact the result of the chain of collaborations of people who exercise various tasks. How functioning the "artistic worlds"? What is the specificity of the artistic occupations? How is achieved the socialization in these called often "closed" worlds? The reponse on these questions bring the publications based on the research providing from various countries: France, the US, Germany and Poland. Did the artistic worlds different one from other (because of the specialty, the country of production of a given society)? Did the myth of artist's cosmopolitism corroborates with the results of research on the mobility and the international character of the artistic milieus? What say the specialists of these occupations about artistic genius? During the last twenty years the interest of the sociologist for the artistic worlds and creative milieus significantly grow. The most important phenomenon concerns France, the part of this effect could be attributed to the specific status which enjoy French artists (intermittants de spectacle). This privileged status makes possible the exercise of the artistic profession as a unique source of life for many person. However, in others countries, in which the artistic occupations are dependent from the rude market selection, the sociologists are also interested in the study of the artistic worlds, careers, life and activity of creators and performers of arts. At the end of 20th century, it appears a theory about the influence of some aspect of artistic work (creativity, passion, involvement, the lack interest in the financial aspects, individualism, entreprenaurialship, mobility) into the world of other professions and occupations. The men - the employee in the XXI century, need to have some chosen features of artist, in order to deserve the name of "the good employee". Did each employee need to be an artist? What is so attractive in these occupations? It is possible that the artists became (and could play this role) the model for the employees of future generations?
