(in Polish) Seminarium tematyczne: Murzyńskość, kreolizacja, afrotopia: społeczno-kulturowe i literackie projekty afrodiasporyczne (Antyle, Kanada, Afryka) 3304-2DXW-ST-58-OG
The course aims to familiarize the group with the basic socio-cultural and literary Afrodiasporic projects, ranging from Negritude to concepts of Afrotopia. The main axis of reflection will be an attempt to answer the question of what cultural and literary concepts are emerging in the French Antilles (Caribbean), French-speaking Canada and Québec, as well as in French-speaking parts of Africa in response to the colonial past of these areas, the claims of identity affirmation of the societies inhabiting them, and the contemporary challenges of both globalization and the new divisions and tensions between the countries of the Global South and the Western world.
Négritude, antillanité, creolization, afropolitanism or afrotopia are just some of the concepts or projects that have been born in the areas of the former French colonies from the 1920s to the present day, and which, all of them, seem to seek new definitions for societies and/or states created either under colonization (as in the case of the French Antilles) or during decolonization (as in the case of Africa). All of these concepts seek to address issues such as economic, cultural and linguistic domination, racism or stereotyping, while proposing new ways of defining the history and present of these territories that are independent of the colonial view.
The aim of the course will be to trace how the aforementioned redefinition takes place and how literature is included in this process as a tool for decolonizing minds, mentalities and cultural representations.
