The lecture We will focus on the socio-political issues accompanying this migration and their representations in literature, including:
- the evolution of Germany towards an immigration country (Einwanderungsland)
- intercultural issues (identity, integration, assimilation)
- social, generational conflicts (life models)
- interactions with the indigenous inhabitants of Germany (Germans and Turks in
literary images, stereotypes and new forms of representation)
- auto- and heterostereotypes
- the last debate on dual citizenship and citizenship in general
- ideological issues ("participation", "homeland", "national culture")
- the concept of “immigrant literature” and intercultural literature”

Learning outcomes
Students persons will gain knowledge about the history, culture and literature of Turkish guest workers and their descendants in Germany, they will learn the most important facts from this history, a recognizable figure in the German public space, including primarily writers. They are potentially able to analyze this history as an integral part of Germany's post-war history.
Assessment criteria
Students persons are required to be interested to the topic and literature. Form of assessment: oral examination at the end of the semester.
