Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student:
knows basic French vocabulary related to the body, health, well-being, visiting a doctor, lifestyle, food, the environment, weather, nature and simple popular science topics;
knows basic phrases and expressions needed to speak in French about daily habits, healthy choices, daily routine, physical activity, rest and nutrition;
understands short and simple written and spoken texts about health, lifestyle, food, shopping, the environment, weather, climate, nature and basic scientific topics;
can communicate in simple everyday situations, such as talking about well-being, visiting a doctor, shopping for food, asking for information, describing a daily routine, a place or a problem;
can speak in simple sentences about their lifestyle, daily habits, health, food, sport, rest and ways of protecting the environment;
can describe, in simple language, the natural world, selected animals and plants, parks, gardens, weather phenomena and basic environmental problems;
can understand the main information from a short popular science text, infographic, poster, recording or short video adapted to A2 level;
can give a short speech or mini-presentation on a selected topic related to health, nature, climate, simple scientific issues or well-known male and female researchers;
can express a simple opinion, agreement, disagreement, preference or suggestion using basic language structures appropriate for A2 level;
can manage a short conversation using the phrases and expressions learned in class and basic grammatical rules;
can prepare a short written text, such as a message, note, description, simple comment, list of recommendations or short piece of information about health, lifestyle, food, the environment or nature;
can work in pairs and groups during simple communication tasks, dialogues, role-play activities, quizzes and mini-projects;
develops openness to communication in French and awareness of the importance of foreign languages in education, travel, health, science and everyday life.
Assessment criteria
active participation in classes;
presentation on an agreed topic;
one final oral assessment;
attendance: a maximum of 4 unexcused absences per semester is allowed;
minimum passing threshold: 60%.
