Social changes mirrored by lyrics of American hip-hop genre 3223-SCM-OG
The aim of the course is to present selected aspects of the social and cultural history of the United States in the 20th century through visual representations created both in the past and today. How does the self-presentation of a given historical moment differ from its later reinterpretation? Selected topics include hip-hop culture, rap slang, discrimination issues, language of protest, rap biographies, linguistic analysis of rap texts, etc.
