Europe yesterday, today and tomorrow. Italy (culture, political issues, literature, language) in the European context 3223-S2EDJ-OG
The lecture provides for the thematic division of classes into: pan-European lectures highlighting the current situation in Europe (culture, politics, literature) and the development prospects of various fields of the humanities. A significant part of the course will be devoted to the current situation in Italy: the state of the economy and the main political and social problems. Some of the lectures will focus on the broadly understood issues of Italian linguistics and translation studies as an intercultural phenomenon, outlining the prospects for the development of these fields in Italy and throughout Europe. Lectures on contemporary Italian literature are also planned.

The lectures n the summer semester of the academic year 2023/2024 will be thematically focused on Italian countries and cities (before the Unification) aropean politics and culture.

Assessment criteria
eaching methods:
- classes in the form of a lecture with the possibility of asking questions and discussions
- analysis of presentations prepared by lecturers
- discussion and joint evaluation of the presentation
- discussing doubts and possible ambiguities
Student work assessment methods:
- current assessment of activity and attendance during classes;
- at the end of the lectures (a week after the end, the student submits a short written essay discussing 3 selected lectures (up to 3000 characters)
Assessment criteria:
Assessment based on presence (60% required) and the result of written work
Scoring rules for the current assessment:
• attendance at 14 out of 15 lectures - 5
• attendance at 13 lectures - 4+
• attendance at 12 lectures - 4
• attendance at 10-11 lectures - 3+
• attendance at 8-9 lectures - 3
• An additional criterion is a credit for a short written essay
