Learning Belarusian C2 3221-S2-FBA-NJB21-OG
The task of the instructor is to consolidate and improve the language skills acquired at level C1.
The ability to create written texts (e.g. a report or a press article devoted to a selected issue, a summary of a scientific article, a note from a listened lecture, a television broadcast or an interview) and spoken texts (public speech, press report) is developed and improved.
The vocabulary from various fields is expanded (primarily in the scope of basic specialist vocabulary from selected fields). The ability to correctly construct specialist texts in Belarusian, use idiomatic expressions, phraseological units, distinguish between industry and colloquial vocabulary, and take care of the culture of the language is improved. The ability to translate selected technical texts is improved. Journalistic texts about the culture and economy of Belarus are read, and the ability to use available materials on websites analytically and critically is developed.
Estimated number of hours needed to achieve the defined learning outcomes:
a) number of contact hours: 30 hrs (1 ECTS);
b) ongoing preparation for classes: 15 hrs (0.5 ECTS);
c) preparation of longer written works and oral presentations: 15 hrs (0.5 ECTS);

Assessment criteria
Conditions for admission to the final exam:
- 2 absences from classes are allowed
- systematic preparation of the assigned material for classes
- timely completion of homework and control tests
- active participation in work on presentations, individual and group speeches
The final exam is in written form and consists of a grammar and vocabulary test, a translation task and an essay on one of three topics to choose from.
Percentage scale of grades for the written assignment:
Below 51% – 2.0 (unsatisfactory grade)
51% – 60% – 3.0 (satisfactory grade)
61% – 70% – 3.5 (satisfactory plus grade)
71% – 80% – 4.0 (good grade)
81% – 90% – 4.5 (good plus grade)
91% – 98% – 5.0 (very good grade)
99% – 100% – 5! (excellent grade)
Essay - criteria:
a/ compliance with the topic,
b/ compliance with the required form,
c/ composition,
d/ volume of work,
e/ linguistic richness,
f/ linguistic correctness
The final grade is: 50% of the grade from the course + 50% of the grade from the final test.
