Belarusian descriptive grammar. Morphology I 3221-S1-FBA-GOJBMI21
Seminar is devoted to discuss inflective and uninflective lexemes, their classification criteria, the discussion about nominal and verbal grammatical categories.
There are particularly discussed: semantic and categorical characteristics of a noun, an adjective, a pronoun, a numeral, syntactic and morphological features of predicatives, nonverbal predicatives and a verb, predicative and unpredicative categories of a verb, semantic, formal and syntactic characteristics of an adverb, unctional features of uninflective parts of speech.
If it is not possible to conduct classes on university premises, classes
shall be held with the aid of distance learning tools, most likely Google
Meet and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, student:
1. KNOWLEDGE: student understands and has an advanced knowledge of
- subject and methodological characteristics of research in Belarusian studies as well as terminology used in this area
- the most significant theories of language studies
- the nature of language and the impact of historical and cultural changes on its development.
2. SKILLS: student can
- formulate and analyse research problems in the area of language studies, choose research methods and tools, including advanced information and communication technology;
- use theories, research paradigms and concepts common to language studies while communicating with the community and during debates and discussions;
- substantiate and draw conclusions by using ideas presented by other scholars in Polish and foreign languages.
3. SOCIAL COMPETENCES: student is ready to
- critically evaluate his or her knowledge and the content he or she receives;
- recognise the significance of knowledge in solving epistemic and practical problems as well as resort to expert opinion.

Conditions for admission to final examination:
- systematic preparation for classes of the given material
- timely execution of housework and control tests
The written test in the form of a test consists of two parts: theoretical and practical.
The theoretical part contains between 6 and 10 open questions.
The practical part contains between 6 and 10 open and closed questions.
The results from both parts of the test are combined and converted according to the formula:
60% - 68% - 3 (satisfactory)
69% - 77% - 3+ (rated satisfactory plus)
78% - 86% - 4 (good)
87% - 95% - 4+ (good plus)
96% - 100% - 5 (very good)
The final grade is: 50% of the class mark + 50% of the exam grade.
The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence.
Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course.
The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam.
