Siberia in the literary imagination and history of Russia 3202-S1WLSI31o-OG
The conversation seminar aims to broaden and deepen the students' knowledge about Siberia, its literature, and history. To achieve this goal, they will be introduced to the most important events, writers, and literary works.

1. History and geography of Siberia. General information on the region.
2. The myth of Yermak.
3. Maurycy Beniowski.
4. Polish exiles.
5. Siberia in Romanticism (Ryleev, Pushkin, Mickiewicz).
6. The specificity of Kazakhstan and the Far East.
7. Maximilian Marx.
8. Yakutia.
9. Fyodor Dostoyevsky and Anton Chekhov.
10. Revolutionaries in exile.
11. The Russian Civil War (1917-1922) in literature.
12. In the world of imagology.
13. Siberia in Soviet literature.
14. Literature of the 21st century.
15. Final test

Knowledge:
− The student has well-organized detailed knowledge about Siberia
− The student knows the characterized literary works, as well as works of individual writers; problems; literary genres, historical-literary background of the origin of chosen works,
− The student knows the contents of these readings, which were particularly important for the history of Syberia
− The student knows the achievements of selected Polish, Russian and West European researchers of history and literatury of Syberia, student refers to the their basic works and opinions.
− The student has knowledge about imagology in literatury of Syberia
Skills:
− The student has the basic events in Syberia and places them in a wider literatury context
-The student can name the key events and figures in the history of Syberia,
− the student clarifies, why literature about Syberia influences the Polish-Russian relationships
− The student compares Russian and Polish point of view on key events of siberian history and literature
− The student uses basic literature and historical terminology,
- The student possesses detailed research abilities in the analysis and interpretation of the literary works.
− The student is able to charaterize the genezis and value of discussed issues,
− The student has an ability to work systematically.
Social competences:
− the student understands the specificity of literary studies,
− the student feels the responsibility for the preservation of European cultural and literary heritage
− student is aware of the contribution of Polish and Russian literature in Europe's cultural heritage,
− the student is aware of the importance and role of literature in the functioning of the state,
− the student is able to adequately define the priorities for the task,
− the student has deeper awareness of his knowledge and skills, and feels the need to further learning,
− The student feels obligated to develop his own reading interests and is aware of his responsibility for the reading culture.

The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence. Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course. The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam.
If it is not possible to conduct classroom classes, classes will be conducted using distance communication tools, most likely Google Classroom and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.
