Learning outcomes
The student is familiar with the key facts of Fryderyk Chopin's biography, the musical genres characteristic of his works, and history of interpretations of selected compositions.
The student actively participates in discussions about interpretations of Chopin’s selected works and can recognize them by ear.
The student engages in a creative dialogue with Fryderyk Chopin’s musical heritage.
The student is familiar with contemporary forms of discourse surrounding Chopin’s music and is able to participate in it actively.
Assessment criteria
Knowledge test (70%): assesses the student’s familiarity with the biography of Fryderyk Chopin, characteristic musical genres, and contemporary interpretations of his works; includes aural identification of selected compositions.
The workshop component (20%): a creative assignment in which the student presents a brief (max. 10 minutes) presentation of a selected genre in a chosen format (e.g., a draft for a radio broadcast or podcast, a booklet sketch for a CD album, a plan for a TV broadcast etc.).
Active participation in class discussions (10%).
