The International Inventory of Musical Sources (RISM) – an introduction 3106-RISM-OG
The course International Catalogue of Musical Sources (RISM) - an introduction is aimed at both musicology students and other subjects interested in using RISM resources. The aim of the class is to familiarise participants with the structure of RISM catalogues, with particular emphasis on the online catalogue and the sources available in it, as well as dedicated search tools. Depending on the composition of the group, the usefulness of the RISM database and resources will be discussed not only for musicologists, but also for researchers and students from other disciplines, and issues relating to the nature of musical sources and their description will be addressed. The class will include a visit to the Music Department of the University of Warsaw Library combined with a workshop on cataloguing music manuscripts.
