Music at the court of Prince Jerome Florian Radziwill 3106-MNDRADZ-OG

The classes are devoted to the musical culture at the court of representative of Nieśwież line of Radziwill family – the prince Hieronim Florian Radziwill (1715-1760) in Slutsk and Biała (today: Biała Podlaska). Composition and abundance of musical and theatrical bands will be presented, as well as conditions of the artists’ life, their musical, theatrical and paratheatrical repertoire, also the social role of music will be discussed. Musical culture of the Radziwill court will be presented on the background of music performed at the court of the king Augustus III, as well as on repertoire of musical and theatrical bands operating at that time in Poland. The aim of the course is to familiarize students with results of the latest research on the musical culture at the magnate courts of Poland in the eighteenth century, as well as to present a repertoire, which was known and performed on these courts.

2. Musical culture of Warsaw and the map of most important cultural centers of Poland in the mid- eighteenth century.
3. Musical culture of the Radziwill family. The court of Karol Stanislaw Radziwill and Anna Katarzyna Radziwill of Sanguszko in Nieśwież and Biała.
4 Musical culture of the Radziwill family. The court of Michał Kazimierz "Rybeńko" and Franciszka Urszula Radziwill of Wisniowiecki in Nieśwież.
