Introduction Into Symbolic Anthropology 3102-WAS-OG
The objective of the course is to master understanding and interpreting some crucial areas of human symbolic activities, past and contemporary, as studied in ethnology/cultural anthropology. The concepts of traditional cosmology, ritual, myth (including its presence in pop culture), shamanism, taboo, and transgression, feasts and festivals are defined and discussed, mostly in reference to the field data brought by the author himself from his anthropological fieldwork.
