Polish language course - upper intermediate level B2 Impro 3004-POLOB2-impro
Curriculum of the course meets the requirements of the State
Commission for the Certification of Proficiency in Polish as a Foreign
Language.
Grammar (selected issues from the following):
1. Declension of irregular nouns (e.g. imię, przyjaciel, pieniądz,
ksiądz).
2. Plural masculine-personal forms of nouns and adjectives.
3. Aspect of verbs in the past tense and future tense.
4. The creation and use of the participles.
5. Declension and syntax of cardinal numbers.
6. Conditional mood.
7. Conditional sentences.
8. Passive voice.
9. Place, time, cause and purpose clauses.
10. Transforming complex sentences into simple sentences.
Vocabulary:
1. Traveling.
2. Language.
3. Inventions and discoveries.
4. Society.
5. Family.
6. Personality.
7. Holidays and traditions.
8. Work.
9. Current social and political issues.

Learning outcomes
The outcome of completing the course is the development of language
competence in Polish at B2 level, with particular emphasis on fluency
and communicative effectiveness in everyday and task-based
situations. The student is able to use Polish freely and spontaneously
thanks to the application of improv techniques that support active
language use in practice. The student can write longer texts on a
variety of topics and speak extensively, using grammatically correct
forms, expressing and justifying their own point of view, and
participating in discussions. They are also able to use both formal and
informal varieties of Polish appropriately to the situation, as well as
employ common idiomatic expressions.
Assessment criteria
Final test – 40%;
Midterm tests / presentations – 20%;
Homework assignments – 20%;
Active participation in class (up to two unexcused absences
allowed per semester) – 20%.
To pass the semester, students must demonstrate achievement in each
of the above categories and pass the final exam (a student who receives
0% in any category will not pass the course).

Based on learning outcomes specified in the “Assessment methods and
criteria” section.

85–89% (4.5)
84–76% (4)
75–68% (3.5)
