Comprehensive Polish with extended communication training. The course introduce some basic issues related to economy and international relations.
B1:
Grammar – practicing and extending the knowledge about the structures from A2 by introducing their new syntactic, semantic functions and extended grammar description. • Accusative plural, • pronoun swój • imperative and conditional, • defective verbs, • repeating of locative case – forms and functions, • vocative, • verbs of motion, • dative, • syntax of numerals, • comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs.
B2:
Irregular nouns – declination, eg (imię, przyjaciel, pieniądz, ksiądz), • Plural of masculine personal gender for nouns, adjectives and pronouns • Imperfect and perfect forms of verbs in present and past tense • Creating and using the participles. • Declination and syntax of numerals.
Topics for discussions: 1. Traveling. 2. Language. 3. Inventions and discoveries. 4. Society. 5. Family. 6. Personality. 7. Hanits and holidays. 8. Work. 9. Compering of various aspects of live in Poland and China.

Learning outcomes
Student understands key messages and meanings of general, specific and abstract topics of writing and speaking language, including texts with complex structure. Student is able to write longer and varied texts, present and justify his or her point of view and take part in discussion after preparation. Student can use formal and informal Polish in specific situations and understand popular Polish idioms.
Student is prepared to work alone with complex texts which includes vocabulary related to economy and international relations.
Assessment criteria
- Final test at the end of the course – 40%
- Attendance (only two unjustified absences from classes possible) – 20%
- Active participation in the discussions – 40 %
To obtain a course credit at the end of the semester, a student must show achievements in each of the above categories and pass the final test. A student who receives 0% in one category, will not receive a pass.
