Jews in Poland in the Middle Ages and in the Early Modern Period - lecture 2900-JSL-ZPWSIN-OG
The course is a systematic lecture on the history of Polish Jews in the period from the Middle Ages to the end of the 18th century. The lecture presents, if possible in chronological order, the most important issues, such as demographic issues, legal status and the main economic activities of the Jews, self-government institutions, religious movements and modernization currents, as well as the problem of Old Polish society's attitude towards the Jewish population.

Learning outcomes
After passing the course a student:
Knowledge:
• has deeper knowledge of the history of Polish Jews during the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period
• has a basic knowledge of sources for researching the history of Jews in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth
• has knowledge of the basic directions of research and literature on the subject
Skills:
• can present the genesis and course of the most important trends and phenomena in the history of Jews in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth
• can relate the history of Jews to the history of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, sees the multiculturalism of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the place the Jews occupy in it
• uses appropriate terminology regarding Jews in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth
• can independently use the literature on the history of Jews in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth
Social competence:
• critically refers to stereotypes and prejudices regarding Jews in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth
• appreciates the multiculturalism of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth
