The tomb of Tutankhamun – a hundred years of research 2800-DWTUT-OG
Discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings (KV 62) nearly a hundred
years ago started a new era in the studies on the civilisation of Pharaonic Egypt. The lecture
presents the tomb’s contents and offers its interpretation in the light of our knowledge on the
history and religion of the post-Amarna period.

Student has a knowledge on the main trends in the field of modern humanistic studies, and
culture of ancient Egypt in particular. He is able to interpret properly archaeological and
written sources on the history and culture of ancient Egypt. Student should understand
significance of humanistic studies for modern culture. He is able to propagate effectively the
results obtained in the field of humanistic studies.
