At the court of the Persian king. Courtly life and ideology of royal power in ancient Iran 2800-DWDWOR-OG
The royal court played a key role in the politics and culture of the ancient Near East, nothing
so it is strange that the descriptions of the court found their way into the literature of many ancient societies. The aim of
the lecture is a presentation of the king and the royal court, which was political and symbolic
the cultural center of ancient Iran. The subject of the lecture focuses on three dynasties:
Achemenids, Parthians and Sasanids. The evolution of the Iranian royal ideology and its will be considered
relationship or similarity with Mesopotamian, Hellenistic and Roman ideologies. Under
in chronological terms, the lecture will therefore cover the period from the 6th century BC. until the 7th century,
During the lecture, some of the main themes of the monarchy and society will be presented
court in ancient Iran: from the royal family, courtiers, concubines, through intrigues
court, palace architecture and cultural and social aspects of court society.
